Where does the word Distripalyzer come from?
 
It comes from the 3 functions of the SR-15+: DISTributor, STRIPper, anALYZER.
 
Can the SR-15+ repair drop-outs?
 
The SR-15+ does not regenerate time code. If the input signal disappears completely, the only way to repair it is to regenerate it with a unit such as the Brainstorm SR-3R.
However, the SR-15+ has a very low threshold, below -35dB, which is much lower than many readers. If the signal drops below the reader’s threshold, even for a fraction of a second, it will look like a drop out. But if it stays above –35dB, the SR-15+ can be said to eliminate the drop out, by eliminating the level drop.
 
Is the SR-15+ distributor the same as an audio DA?
 
No. An audio DA is designed to distributes an audio signal. The SR-15+ on the other hand not only distributes time code, but also reshapes it, eliminating distortions and amplitude fluctuations. Also, an audio DA may no be designed to handle a 2.4KHz square wave and may induce distortions.
 
Can the SR-15+ distribute one signal and analyze another?
 
Yes. There is an on-board jumper that lets you do exactly that. When set properly, the SR-15+ distributes the signal present on the rear panel and analyzes the signal selected with the front panel switch.
