How do I install the TCG in my SR-112?

Enter the authorization code you received when you purchased the TCG in menu 98 (Feature Key). Keep in mind that this code is only valid for the SR-112 with the serial number used during registration.

Can the TCG generate 23.976 code locked to NTSC video?

Yes. And when that happens, the GEN STATUS 1 page displays "XFrm" to indicate that the generator is creating 24 frame code locked at 23.976Hz to an NTSC video reference. This is the only cross frame mode currently supported.

What is the difference between 'Copy' and 'Jam'?

Copy means the TCG continuously reads the time code input and regenerates the exact same numbers. Jam means that a one-time copy of the input time code is transferred to the generator shortly after the input time code achieves play velocity. The generator then increments as it would in Generate Mode.

What is the 'Show' option?

The show option is a special repair mode for live shows that guarantees a continuous stream of time code (no drop-outs, no skipped frame). Click here for more information (pdf).

Can the TCG delay time code to realign it with video?

When Video Ref is turned on, the regenerated time code will always be aligned properly with video, even if the input is out of phase. In addition to proper edge alignment, the TCG also lets you delay the time code, up to 60 msec, in case the video is lagging (lip sync is off).

Can the TCG be remote-controlled?

Yes, there are 2 ways to remote-control the TCG. The first one is done manually, via the ethernet port using a standard browser (SR-112 user manual page 17). The second is via the optional serial adapter SP/SR112 - refer to the Command List of the protocol description.

Why is the 'Reshape' LED blinking while I am in 'Repair' Mode?

It means that the Generator is bypassed and the input time code is active. The SR-112 is reshaping, not regenerating. Typically, this happens during jam/copy ramp up and is temporary. It also happens when the input code is not within the menu 23 or 24 specs (Input Persistency and Jam Window). Look at the Gen Status 2 page on the LCD and see if the 'Copy' or 'Jam' indicator is also blinking. If so, adjust the settings of menus 23 and/or 24.
