Brainstorm Electronics

A Brand Used and Trusted by Engineers Worldwide for Over 35 years!

Brainstorm Electronics is a leading manufacturer of sync equipment and solutions for a wide range of applications, from mastering and recording studios to large film, production and broadcast facilities, to live events.

The company was founded in Los Angeles in 1987 by three engineers who set out to solve some of the problems commonly found in recording studios but not always addressed by other manufacturers. Our first product, the TB-4 Communicator, a wireless remote for the console’s talkback, was a huge success and stayed in production for over 20 years.

After designing accessories for tape machines and recording consoles, Brainstorm moved into the world of sync in the late 80’s with a line of time code solutions, including analyzers, reshapers, distributors and generators. The SR-15 Time Code Distripalyzer quickly became a standard in major post-production facilities. With the evolution of technology, time code has gained importance in live applications and today our redesigned SR-112 Time Code Distripalyzer is used by many touring bands as well as theme parks and permanent installations.

Clocking has been an important aspect of digital audio from the start. When not implemented properly, it could have severe consequences on the quality of the audio signal and even cause errors. In the early 2000’s, the DCD line was introduced to solve these problems with special emphasis on jitter reduction and audio quality.

Today, IP has drastically transformed the way audio and video are transported and sync has changed completely. Our DXD line combines IEEE 1588 PTP (network sync) with traditional sync (WC, video sync and time code) in order to maintain a single master for all clocks throughout a facility, replacing house sync. And with GPS, even remote units are locked to that same source.

Our products are designed in close collaboration with plus24, our exclusive worldwide distributor and US sales office. From Timecode, to Machine Control, to Digital Clocks, our commitment has remained unchanged: to design innovative, high quality products that promote fast and efficient work flow in the studio.
